Pat Fitzgerald
Pat Fitzgerald was born the son of an iceman in Fairbanks,
Alaska. His mom's father played mandolin and his dad played saxophone in dance bands and on radio
in Indiana in the 1920s and both parents encouraged his
early interest in music. He started playing drums at age thirteen
and guitar at sixteen, inspired by bands like The Standells and
The Yardbirds, and has been a part of many Alaskan
bands since then, most notably The Flyers, Howling Dog house band from the mid 80's to the mid-90's playing a healthy
dose of roots rock and Pat's own originals.
These bands have opened for such acts as John Hammond, Stevie Ray Vaughn,
Elvin Bishop, The Greg Allman Band and The Youngbloods. As a drummer he has played with the seminal Fairbanks band the Glass Bead Game, backed Freddie Fender and toured with Al Rapone
& The Zydeco Express from Louisiana and The Grant Dermody
Band from Seattle.
As a solo artist and with Robin Dale Ford, he has been honored to open for Allison
Krauss, Peter Mulvey, Iris Dement, Loudon Wainwright, Tom Russell
